Good work! An excellent, well-written article. I have a small number of fairly minor concerns, however, so I'm placing the article on-hold for now. Cavie78 (talk) 14:22, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- I've been working with Rlendog to get this article up to GA standard. I've just taken a look at addressing the issues you've mentioned, with some help from Sayantan m, and hopefully between the two of us, we've changed things to your liking. The only outstanding thing as far as I can see is your request for quotes from Dylan himself (see my comments below) --Kohoutek1138 (talk) 17:02, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- It is reasonably well written.
- a (prose): (MoS):
- A few minor problems with the prose are listed below. # should be replaced with "number" per MOS:NUMBERSIGN. One instance of possible overlinking.
- a (prose): (MoS):
- It is factually accurate and verifiable.
- a (references): (citations to reliable sources): (OR):
- Sources look good, no original research.
- a (references): (citations to reliable sources): (OR):
- It is broad in its coverage.
- a (major aspects): (focused):
- A few questions appear below about the Beastie Boys sample and the lack of quotes from Dylan himself but I don't think they're critical at GA.
- a (major aspects): (focused):
- It follows the neutral point of view policy.

- Audio file has an appropriate fair use rationale. I would like to see the clip moved but this is just a personal preference.

General
[edit]- "number" should be used instead of # per MOS:NUMBERSIGN
- Do you have any quotes from Dylan himself about the song?
- I don't have any quotes in any of my books but perhaps Rlendog can help with this?
- As a personal thing, but also to tighten up justification of usage, I'd prefer the clip to be moved to the relevant section of the prose using Template:Listen with a caption that explains what this particular section is and how it highlights things mentioned in the text e.g. it's the first verse. I personally believe that it still meets fair use criteria but others may not be so sure.
Lyrics and music
[edit]- "...the same day as Dylan recorded the songs "Ballad of a Thin Man", "Highway 61 Revisited" and "Queen Jane Approximately". What are these songs? You should probably say that they also appear on Highway 61 Revisited.
- Perhaps mention that the song was recorded at Columbia Studios.
- "Highway 61 Revisited" is linked twice in the section - is this intentional?
- "...finds the means to pick up..." What does "pick up" mean here?
Other appearances and acclaim
[edit]- "(also known as More Bob Dylan Greatest Hits in Europe)" Is it better to say just "known as More Bob Dylan Greatest Hits in Europe"? "Also" suggests both names were used.
- "An alternate take of the song, featuring Sam Lay on drums instead of Bobby Gregg, is included on The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: No Direction Home: The Soundtrack." Is this the version that Heylin talks about?
- Yes it is - have addressed this in the relevant paragraph. Done.
- You talk about "Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues" being listed as the #x all time Bob Dylan song twice. Presumably you mean all time best Bob Dylan song?
Cover versions
[edit]- Which bit of the song was sampled by the Beastie Boys? (It's the final two lines)
Promote
[edit]- Excellent stuff, am happy to promote. I think the article could be improved by the addition of quotes from Dylan but I don't think this is a problem at GA as I said. Keep up the good work! Cavie78 (talk) 21:51, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah! Excellent article. Thanks everybody.--Sayantan (talk|contribs) 01:34, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
