She is credited in Defenders as such...can the article name be changed?` —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.180.85.131 (talk) 03:52, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article has been moved from Jurnee Smollett-Bell to Jurnee Smollett. There was no discussion about the change of page name, that I can see. The editor that made the change said she was commonly known as Jurnee Smollett.[1] That depends on what the guidelines mean by "commonly known" she has been credited by that name for almost 10 years. She appears to have separated in 2020, and may no longer be using her married name anymore but that is not yet clear. The page move seems premature and it may be proved correct in time, but it is unfortunate that it was moved without any discussion. -- 109.76.148.29 (talk) 23:10, 6 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please see WP:COMMONNAME... - Adolphus79 (talk) 16:55, 7 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was aware of the guidelines, that why I said above it depends what exactly they guidelines meant by common name. She is "commonly known" as Jurnee Smollett-Bell and has been known and credited by that name for almost a decade. The guidelines WP:COMMONNAME do not say anything about changing the name without discussion after a divorce, they only say that if a name change occurs "give extra weight to reliable sources written after the name change." The rush to change the title of this article without discussion will probably be okay (too early to know for sure) but other editors going around messing with her film credits is not.[2] If she was credited as Smollett-Bell when she made the film then film articles should list her using the credited name. I still wish the name change of this article had been properly discussed and explained first though.
For the record here is the diff of the page rename by user User:Wikipedical. -- 109.79.181.29 (talk) 23:09, 8 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
