junkyard dog was a hero
- Support He is most famous by that name and real name is not terribly common. He's deceased so there is no need to worry about him changing names and his other ring names are not significant to warrant a real name page.
Oppose Actually, Tromboneguy is right. I'll support if it goes to "Junkyard Dog"Support is back on--Darren Jowalsen 23:50, 29 June 2006 (UTC)-- - Support(Halbared 21:28, 27 June 2006 (UTC))
Oppose It should be "Junkyard Dog" and not "Junk Yard Dog" http://www.wwe.com/superstars/halloffame/junkyarddog/profile/Sure, why not?Tromboneguy0186 23:19, 27 June 2006 (UTC)- Oppose, for the reasons I stated here: http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Talk:Mike_Plotcheck#Discussion. Tuckdogg 23:36, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
- Support; Ritter is only notable due to the activities he engaged in as "Junkyard Dog". McPhail 00:17, 1 July 2006 (UTC)
- Support; compare to Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, etc. Use the most common name. Montykins 18:29, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
- Support; per nom. TJ Spyke 00:25, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Note that since the introduction of this Requested Move, something else has been added at Junkyard Dog. I imagine that will complicate things. Montykins 03:59, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- The majority of pages that link to "Junkyard Dog" refer to the wrestler, the other page will be moved to "Junkyard Dog (Homeworld)" likely.--Darren Jowalsen 20:00, 10 July 2006 (UTC)

Result
[edit]Moved. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 19:29, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
JYD never lifted his leg to pantomime peeing on an opponent. This was added by Eugene later on, and was featured in the video game as a move from Eugene's set that carried over.
Death
[edit]Does anyone know how he died? This would be very helpful for the article!! Urena198 21:04, 15 May 2007 (UTC)
About JYD's daugther LaToya Ritter
[edit]I don't think there is proof or citations that Junkyard Dog's daugther died this October. So as per Wikipedia standards I will revert this nonsense until there's proof or citations about it, e.g.: Find A Grave.com is one big citation about this.
Any user who dare put this nonsense again without this big citation or other sources, I will report this to any Wikipedia admin. Kyrios320 (talk) 12:41, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
His daughter did die she was talking on the phone and her friend heard a loud thump sound, she went to her house and found her. In Dark Side of the Ring JYD's nephew took the cameras to their graves and said her heart valve ruptured and there was nothing the doctors could do. there was an article announcing her passing when her portion was added.47.198.52.53 (talk) 20:52, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
Fictional Wikipedia
[edit]Why does the text imply that his fights are real? As far as I understood "Professional wrestling" is play fighting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.242.117.214 (talk) 20:47, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Junkyard Dog
[edit]I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Junkyard Dog's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.
Reference named "cagematch":
- From Kamala (wrestler): Philip Kreikenbohm. "Kamala". Cagematch.net. Retrieved February 18, 2018.
- From Tommy Rich: "Tommy Rich - Cagematch Profile". CAGEMATCH. Retrieved December 24, 2018.
I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT⚡ 13:55, 30 October 2019 (UTC)
On the gimmick name
[edit]Before going to Mid-South, Ritter worked briefly for Southeastern Championship Wrestling, using his real name. He wrestled against "Junkyard Dog" Norvell Austin. It was here where he got the idea for the name "Junk Yard Dog"- by copying someone else.
