Ranakdevi Mahal identification clarification
[edit]Copied from previous discussion User talk:Raakuldeep#Ranakdevi Mahel moved to draftspace: I found that the current structure is indeed a mosque built from reusing parts of the former structure which was either a Hindu temple or a Chudasama palace. Ranakdevi Mahal is a modern and legendary name based on folklore. In my opinion, the article should be titled Jumma Masjid. The place is no longer the palace it used to be so calling current structure a palace is not suitable. The Arche. Dept. of Gujarat Govt. also lists it as a Jumma Masjid (official name). The History section of the article will clearly mention that the mosque was built from former structure. And there will be a controversy section about name as well. I think my opinion may not be happy for you as you wanted it to name Ranakdevi Mahal. But the references and structure itself are evident that the place is a mosque with mihrab and associated religious structures and ornamentation.
