Issues with FA status

Following a conversation with @Z1720 at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/requests/July 2009 Ürümqi riots, I'd like to raise some issues with this article. On a quick look I'd be concerned to see this on the front page in its present state for two reasons: 1/ Despite MOS:CITELEDE, there does seem to be a lot of citations in the lead 2/ the aftermath section doesn't really go beyond 2010. Hope that makes sense and that the article could be improved since it's a really interesting topic. Mujinga (talk) 13:10, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
