  • For Zuver:
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Zuver meets all the criteria (albeit barely, as the length is only a couple of letters over the limit - expansion would be nice but is not required). BeanieFan11 (talk) 20:24, 7 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • For Englemann:
General: Article is new enough and long enough
Policy: Article is sourced, neutral, and free of copyright problems
Hook: Hook has been verified by provided inline citation
QPQ: Done.

Overall: Englemann meets all the criteria (just passes the length requirement - though further expansion is not required, I see a few additional details you might want to add from the German Wikipedia of all places, including that he narrowly missed qualifying for the 1928 Olympics and was inducted into the South Dakota Hall of Fame). I'll give this a review, these smaller football guys have waited long enough. Wizardman 22:38, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Overall I just have two issues with the article and they're more points of clarification. First, we have "He was given the nickname "Jug"." but no further context. Do we know when, who, or why he was nicknamed such? Given that it was in enough sources to be notable I find it hard to believe there's nothing on that. Second, I'm curious of the chronology with the draft and the military service. Was he already in the military when he was drafted, or did he opt to do so later on? Given 1943 was square in the middle of athletes getting picked up more and more quickly for military service, it feels like clarifying that would be important. The sources I peeked at for this seem to say the latter, as I found a May 1943 article noting him joining the army, but you may want to double check that.

That's really all I found to add, since he went to a small college and played sparingly in the pros, that combined with the military service in between makes me not surprised that there's scant information on him, so I'm ok with passing once the above is addressed. As an aside I did check all the sources as well and all are good with no copyright issues. I did have a mild chuckle on one that said he was picked up in the 1942 NFL Draft which is very much incorrect. Wizardman 23:00, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wizardman, I checked the sources again and cannot find the answer on his nickname. I stated that sentence about his nickname merely as a statement of fact, based on his real name being Earl but his common name being Jug. Can you provide me the May 1943 article you are referencing? I will search, but if you have it, please do share. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:13, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just realized I have to reapply for Newspapers.com access. If you have a clipped article you can share, please send my way. Otherwise I will have to wait until I am approved. « Gonzo fan2007 (talk) @ 14:16, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Same, I reapplied so I'll have to wait until it goes through before I can find it again. Wizardman 14:34, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Got an approval email so I should be able to find/clip the appropriate articles soon. Wizardman 19:12, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
