Sontaran similarities
[edit]Please note that if you delete the section on the similarity with the Sontarans, I will revert your edit unless you discuss your reasons, in depth, here. There are clear striking resemblances between the Judoon and the Sontarans and, if the estate of their creator was not credited, an interesting controversy. However I am unlikely to undo corrections, clarifications or further information on this issue. Andrew Oakley 22:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- No citations as to whether this is even controversial, original research. --khaosworks (talk • contribs) 01:06, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I'm aware some elements of online fandom are claiming that a big helmet, thick collar, and leathery costume, constitute a clear and striking resemblance, despite Sontarans not having rhinocerotic heads and the Judoon showing no signs of being a militaristic clone race obsessed with war. I'm also aware that the article on Shakedown: Return of the Sontarans indicates that the Holmes estate may not own the rights to Sontaran design, which is backed up by producer Mark Ayres's 1999 assertion on rec.arts.drwho that "the BBC told us that we could use the characters if we had Robert Holmes's estate's permission, but that we couldn't license the design."
- So, given the absence of any demonstrable conflict with the Holmes estate copyright, I'm at a loss to see how a few grumblings on Outpost Gallifrey forums and the like constitute a genuine controversy. Digby Tantrum 10:31, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
Archived deletion discussion
[edit]I've put this article up for deletion for three reasons- 1) The Judoon haven't even appeared in Doctor Who yet. 2) The Judoon doesn't need an article because they're most likely one off monsters. 3) This is a spoiler which people most likely don't want to see...
- Superceeded and no longer relevent (March 2007). The Judoon appeared in Series 29 episode 1 and were a major feature. Andrew Oakley 12:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
