It looks like there is another page on this subject, List of media adaptations of Journey to the West. It looks like it's more complete. Should we turn them into a single page?Bettspghtt (talk) 01:30, 6 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An editor has pointed out that there are two articles dealing with the same subject matter, Journey to the West in popular culture, and List of media adaptations of Journey to the West. I would like to propose that these two pages be merged, though I am not sure which title should be retained in the event of a merge. The content on the 'list of media adaptations' appears more complete and orderly, as it is written in bullets rather than flowing prose. That page also counts about three times as many monthly page views, though that is likely a result of its having more substantial content and being indexed more highly in search results. In general, it appears that the naming convention of 'x in popular culture' is much more common across Wikipedia, so I would favor merging the content from 'list of media adaptations' under this page's title. Thoughts? Homunculus (duihua) 04:23, 9 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I support the merge. I would lean toward Journey to the West in popular culture because it can encompass List of media adaptations of Journey to the West, as well as depictions in art forms such as sugar people, amusement park rides, and whatever else may come along. :) Anna Frodesiak (talk) 12:10, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Great. I'll look at moving the content over to Journey to the West in popular culture, while retaining the presentation style of 'list of media adaptations.' Then I just have to figure out How to merge a page... Homunculus (duihua) 13:34, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Good luck with the merge. It's my least favourite task at Wikipedia. You will need to prepare:
  • Coffee
  • Aspirin
  • Black board and chalk
  • Vodka or some sort of powerful, powerful sedative for afterward
  • A therapist specializing in PTSD
Good luck. We're rooting for you. See you on the other side. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 13:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Since the article List of media adaptations of Journey to the West encompasses much more information then Journey to the West in popular culture, and Journey to the West in popular culture mentions only surprisingly little new "items on the list" (the majority of info belonging to articles about the specific adaptations), all items from the "list" in Journey to the West in popular culture were checked and copied into List of media adaptations of Journey to the West this way:
1) Only items (wikilinks) to articles not previously in List of media adaptations of Journey to the West were added.
2) If List of media adaptations of Journey to the West already included the link, no content from Journey to the West in popular culture was moved, as not to make the article unbalanced. If someone considers some information in Journey to the West in popular culture useful, feel free to add it to List of media adaptations of Journey to the West.
3) If List of media adaptations of Journey to the West did not include the link, all relevant content from Journey to the West in popular culture was moved. If someone considers some of it not useful, feel free to remove it from List of media adaptations of Journey to the West. The article needs formatting anyway.
4) Where I was unable to verify the connection between the adaptation and Journey to the West using wiki articles, I added [citation needed] template.
5) The article title still needs to be decided. I recommend to make future edits to List of media adaptations of Journey to the West only, and, perhaps after a discussion, to merge them formally. WikiHannibal (talk) 00:09, 17 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I merged this to prevent future edits of this page by those who do not read the Talk page. That would spoil the work already done. WikiHannibal (talk) 01:58, 24 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
