Sources tag

[edit]

I don't understand the point of the "sources" tag. Are we going to find a better source for when JAMA started publishing than JAMA itself, which is available on its website? Obviously not. -- Walt Pohl (talk) 15:09, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A possible former title

[edit]

I am trying to determine if American Journal of Mathematics is a former title of this journal. I think it was in existence from 1878 to 1979. Beginning in 1927 it was published "under the auspices of Johns Hopkins University (with the American Mathematical Society)" [1]. It is also listed in the NLM catalog [2]. Well, another mystery to solve. Time to take out the pipe... ----Steve Quinn (talk) 06:55, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The American Journal of Mathematics is a separate journal, still publishing. It has a page at [3]. In general, the MathSciNet entry for a journal usually has the former name, if the journal changed names while it was being indexed by them. — Carl (CBM · talk) 13:08, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
