I have just translated this page from French. The original lacks any sources whatsoever, but the abundance of dates demonstrate that the original author was clearly relying on at least one unknown source and not just making things up. Given the importance of this person to an understudied area of history, I believe that it is worth inclusion in English Wikipedia despite the lack of sources. Note on the translation: The French text says that Raseta went to a school run by the "Friends' Foreign Mission Abroad," but a google search for this name turns up no results save for the article itself and pages that have copied it verbatim. However, a quick search reveals that there was a Friends Foreign Mission Association that was active in Madagascar, and thus I have determined that the French text is likely in error, and altered the text of my translation accordingly. On taking a second look at the National Assembly database under external links, I discovered a "biography" section that I had missed before. This biography is identical in wording at many points to the article I translated, to the point that the latter can be considered a slimmed-down version of the former, possibly to the point of plagiarism. While the source in question is written and published by the French state for the purpose of public education, I believe it is still copyrighted, and thus this article may actually be in violation of site policy. Do I need to delete this article, or reduce it to a bare-bones stub? Can someone help me confirm whether the source is in fact under copyright?. Nicknimh (talk) 02:26, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you can reduce it down to a stub, keeping only non-infringing content, then it's probably best to do that and then request a {{revdel}}. Quality sources can then be used to build it back up.
