Two versions of the article

[edit]

Two versions of the article had existed, see [1] when one version turned into another. Both versions have some backing by online document. The main difference is work on Rastafarian topic. Someone knowledgeable, please resolve this. Pavel Vozenilek 17:36, 16 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The confusion seems to arise from the fact that there are two Joseph Owens being referenced. The author of "Dread, The Rastafarians of Jamaica" is a different person than the author of the other books. The easiest way to verify this is by the fact thatJoseph Owens, the Catholic Priest and Professor of Theology and Philosophy, authored all of his books as "Joseph Owens, CSsR", CSsR refering to the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer or Redemporists Order that Father Owens was a member of.

The reference to "Dread: The Rastafarians of Jamica" reappeared, please note that there are two persons by the name "Joseph Owens", the professor of theology and philosophy and the writer of the Rastafarian book.

That is simply not true. The writer of the book was exactly the same Catholic priest. The fact that he was a Catholic priest was made very clear, as IMO, was his tasye for theology and philosophy. It is also highly unlikely that he would have had that high level of access to rastas in poor Kingston at that time had he not been a priest. The idea that there are 2 catholic priest writers called Joseph Ownens is absurd so I suggest you source your claim here before trying to remove the highly important material from this page. The article here links as a reference to both Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia and Rastafari movement and the article was written about the writer so at the very least you should have created an article on the writer instead of deciding they were not the same person and then removing the rasta side of his life. Sounds like POV [pushing to me and besmirches Owens' character. Please get hold of acopy of the book and read it and you will see we are clearly talking about one and the same person, SqueakBox 19:13, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have now sourced there is only one and not 2 Joseph Owens in the article and here, let this be an end to this nonsense. You should have tried to source your claim before hacking into the article as there being the same is abundantly sourced in the internet, SqueakBox 19:18, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No sources that there are 2 Joseph Owens so have reverted Dunderblast, we need a source for his claim otherwise it looks like trolling, SqueakBox 17:17, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
