Notability and citations

[edit]

I'm not particularly familiar with notability requirements for podcasts, but a lot of this stuff is completely unreferenced due to lack of coverage in reliable, secondary sources. I'm not going to go so far as to flag for notability review or deletion at the moment, but I think it's probably a good idea to start getting together a list of reliable, secondary sources to determine what should and shouldn't be included in the article (i.e. not cruft), and whether this meets WP:GNG. I'll also notify the Podcasting Wikiproject (if it is not defunct by now) to see if they can weigh in on the notability and sourcing standards for podcasts per WP:SCOPE. 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 15:36, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm seeing a decent amount of citations here that indicate notability of the subject, but I'm having trouble finding independent sources discussing the format precisely. I think that's one thing that would be very useful for the article. 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 17:11, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Here are some citations for of the aspects of the format, but I don't know exactly where to fit them in:
  • <ref name=UnplayedZero-Review>{{cite web|last1=Hall|first1=Chris|title=Jordan, Jesse, GO! - Podcast Review|url=http://www.unplayedzero.com/feed/jordan-jesse-go-podcast-review|website=[http://www.unplayedzero.com/ Unplayed Zero]|accessdate=18 October 2014|date=August 11, 2014}}</ref>
  • <ref name=NJL-2011-04-27>{{cite web|last1=Benton|first1=Joshua|title=Jesse Thorn on making your own thing in public radio (while still being able to feed your family)|url=http://www.niemanlab.org/2011/04/jesse-thorn-on-making-your-own-thing-in-public-radio-while-still-being-able-to-feed-your-family/|publisher=[[Neiman Journalism Lab]]|accessdate=18 October 2014|date=April 27, 2011}}</ref>
  • <ref name=YoungerTheatre-2013>{{cite web|last1=Turney|first1=Eleanor|title=Spotlight on: Jordan Morris and Jesse Thorn|url=http://www.ayoungertheatre.com/spotlight-jordan-morris-jesse-thorn/|website=[http://www.ayoungertheatre.com/ A Younger Theatre]|accessdate=18 October 2014|date=September 8, 2013}}</ref>
Go ahead and put them in if anyone can find good spots.0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 17:28, 18 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Notable guests section?

[edit]

The list of notable JJGo guests seems a lot like cruft to me. Including all the guests with Wikipedia articles (a basically arbitrary criterion) here is just a crazy level of detail that is not necessary. Can you imagine if you did that for Fresh Air? If anything, I'd say that the standard for inclusion on any sort of list of "notable guests" would be if they've been noted as having been a guest on the show by a reliable secondary source - that's going to narrow the list's scope considerably. As it is now, it's borderline original research and undue weight. Please let me know if there are any objections to my removing it. 0x0077BE [talk/contrib] 18:00, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I think it's fine to remove it. I moved it here from the original location on the Maximum Fun page because it was even worse there. But I agree with your criterion for inclusion. Mycota (talk) 04:49, 31 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
