[edit]"He was once defeated (Accidentally) by Prof. Calculus, the only known time." - this is garble, and i removed it. If anyone makes any sense out of it, reinsert it. --Sprafa 15:22, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:JolyonWagg.jpg
[edit]Image:JolyonWagg.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 06:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC)
Uncle Anatole redirected here
[edit]The only time this character is mentioned is when Wagg refers to him and he doesn't even appear in a panel. The previous article if taken to an AFD would likely have recommended a merge or redirect. The article has been redirected here and the references incorporated. I doubt mention of Uncle Anatole has to be even made in this article other than that Wagg quotes him frequently. --BrokenSphereMsg me 20:26, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Belgicain
[edit]I'm not sure where a user found the translation "Ugly Belgian" for this word! It's admittedly pejorative and slang, but has quite a specific meaning. For the French, certainly, it embodies every negative steriotypical Belgian characteristic, but I think "Ugly Belgian" is still ridiculous. I'm proposing that the current phrase be changed to "the Belgian eauivalent of a Little Englander" (in brackets) because it carries expresses both the nationalistic connotations of the word, but also is used in a pejorative sense. Unless anyone else would care to suggest an alternative?
Incidentally, here is the wikidictionary for the term https://fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/belgicain. Brigade Piron (talk) 10:23, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- "Little Englander" is not really a well-known phrase outside the UK, is it? Better to explain than to compare. Mezigue (talk) 13:42, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Well, it does have a separate page..? Brigade Piron (talk) 08:50, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
