Update of Bolling AFB Page to reflect changes from BRAC 2005

[edit]

For all of those interested, I am new to Wikipedia (In the sense of editing), but I now that the Bolling AFB page is severely out of date because of the recent changes enacted from Base Realignment and Closure 2005. It is now Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, and the primary controlling organization is the United States Department of the Navy.

I am going to begin tackling this article for updating to relect the current status of Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling. Any help is greatly welcomed.

Southeast/Southwest Washington DC

[edit]

Hello, i am new to wikipedia, but i would like to point somthing out here about this article... Bolling AFB is located entirely in southwest washington dc. i am going to edit the article to reflect this error. If you look at a map of the District, the base is west of south capitol street, which is one of the quadrant dividers in the district, therefore the base is located in southwest. have a nice day! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.66.25.97 (talk) 20:43, 22 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's historically been considered southeast. Will change with reference. Student7 (talk) 12:50, 26 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge articles?

[edit]

Right now we have separate articles for Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Bolling Field, and Naval Support Facility Anacostia. The latter two are historical entities that were merged into the Joint Base, so it seems like it's redundant to have three articles, especially given their short lengths. Is there a reason not to merge the three articles into a single article? Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 02:20, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If there is continuity between the bases (I think there is), and the articles are relatively short, they probably should be merged under "history" in the Joint Base article. Student7 (talk) 21:03, 4 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling is currently a verbatim copy of the first few paragraphs of Bolling Field, so I'll have the latter article moved over the former one. Antony–22 (talkcontribs) 06:17, 8 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
