By 1998, Freestyle was at its peak. That year saw many established Freestyle acts releasing new quality releases as well as many promising new artists releasing their first singles. Just two years in the making back in 1987 Johnny O had recorded what would be the biggest solo hit by any male artist to date. Being called the King of Freestyle of Mic Mac Records. No one knew that this Brooklyn born super star, who signed with Mic Mac Records would go global with his first record called “Fantasy Girl.” Here began the birth of the King of Freestyle, instantly he charted top 10 on the hot 100 charts in billboard and sold 100,000 copies his first month, Johnny O was a super star. He truly became an instant favorite among Freestyle fans with his powerful voice and energetic performances, charismatic style and his incredible productions which he keeps producing year after year. So now when we sit and analyze the exact meaning of the format of Freestyle, who could there be, but Johnny O who with all his hits which crossed the nations and oceans, Johnny O is known more than any other artist in his own format of Freestyle. And remember if we are including other formats like pop-dance for the male category then other names would emerge. But when speaking only and strictly about Freestyle. Only one name comes to mind… Johnny O
(King of Freestyle)
Not only does he have two pop records and a dozen or more Freestyle hits that achieved Billboard, but he is also considered the most charismatic male artist out of all male artists in the Freestyle industry. But the people choose him back in 1996 on DMA magazine and on Billboard Magazine both called me “The true King of Freestyle Music.” He has all the accolades that any other male artist in the “A” list of Freestyle needed to be consider having this title. With that said, Johnny O believes in his abilities and when the fans cry out who he is, they know without a shadow of a doubt Johnny O is King. Even till this day Johnny, still puts out strong songs that that keep this market alive by investing in his career. It’s important to note that If mainstream radio existed today, these same songs which he recorded for today’s Freestyle / Pop markets would be charted and would become huge billboard hits. Johnny O is the full package, his singing is amazing, his dancing is outstanding, his stage appearance is magnificent, his command of the stage is superb, He might be the only artist to hold more hits than any other male artists today. Johnny, began from the outset of Freestyle when It began back in 1986, it was a short duration when he came out with his first hit “Fantasy Girl,” which was a chart buster from the start. Even the late George Vascones of Sparkle Productions management would agree, Johnny O is the King of this market.
