When was Dioguardi made into a Captain? I got all of the other information from http://www.crimelibrary.com and on http://www.findagrave.com, where I found his DOB. I got the other info, i.e. on bliding Victor Reisel and Union racketeering from www.crimelibrary.com. If anybody knows when Dioguardi became a Captain could you please add it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.27.90.33 (talkcontribs)

This is all cleaned up now, and this question is answered in the new version of the article. - Tim1965 (talk) 00:23, 30 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is added, but it isn't even remotely correct. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.244.31.2 (talk) 14:39, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • That's your opinion. If you can find contradictory evidence that is published in reliable, neutral sources, I encourage you to add this information (with citations) to the article and note that sources disagree. - Tim1965 (talk) 22:55, 25 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It isn't opinion it was fact. There should be no "sources disagree" because there ar eno sources for the information placed in error. The article states that Dio was a Luciano capo, which wasn't the case because he later belonged to the Luchese family and wasn't a mad eman at the age of 20 as this article foolishly states with no sources. He definitly wasn't an underboss by 24 as he never reached that rank within the Luchese family and once again the person who typed that wouldn't be able to find a source that states that... lets not play the "source" game, especially when the person who posted this article used the frickin' internet... the problem with wikipedia utilizing the "source" method is that most people in the field of organized crime are working off of fictionalized account that have becoem repeated far too often. ie the Last Testament of Luciano and other horrible autobiographies by people who never did original research... and even worse ont he source front is that I've seen guys like David Critchley, one of the leading mafia historians around, have things edited out of articles like Buster from Chicago when he quoted his own book as a source... articles like these are the reason that legitmate individuals who work in the field scoff at wikipedia and laugh at the huge number of errors..

Also, if you must know Jimmy Plumeri (Dio's uncle) and Dio worked for Dominick Didato (also known as Dick Terry and Terry Burnes) who ran the Luciano family operations in Little Italy. Didato was involved with Al Marinelli and formed the Triborough trucking union. They appeared to operate out of Marinelli's garage which has also been noted as Luciano's headquarters prior to his arrest. Didato made the mistake of suggesting that the family should "elect a new boss" after Luciano went to jail and Vito Genovese had the Mangano group, specifically Nick Gentile, set Didato up to be executed... after this point Plumeri and by extension Dio seemed to move towards the Luchese family, which probably means Plumeri switched families and his nephew was along for the ride but not yet a made man.

My suggestion would be to travel to the national archives in College Park, MD to review a lot of the FBI and FBN documents in regards to organized crime and to not use books that regurgitate myths.. I'd also avoid that "Mobsters" tv show.. oh, and Frank Nitti isn't believed to have been more than a front Boss for Ricca but most who really study the field.. Gentile's documents make it fairly clear that he was in charge post-Capone.
