John Wilson - two people?
[edit]I've come across an obituary for John Wilson, 50 years' old from Uphall, lifelong trades' union leader (West Lothian Courier, 12 April 1912). It is noted that he stood, unsuccessfully, for Edinburgh Central Ward (no date is given). His papers are held in the Museum of the Scottish Shale Oil Industry, but hold no further clues. My question is, is there a chance that the John Wilson listed as the successful and unsuccessful candidate (in 1885, 1886 and 1892) could be two different people? It seems highly likely that his obituary would mention his election as an MP if that ever happened.
