Colonel Croxton was never the CO of the 4th Ky Infantry. He was a Brigade Commander in General Thomas, XIV Corps General John Brannon's Third Division 2nd Brigade. The 4th Ky was one of 5 Ohio,Ky. and Indiana regiments in Croxton's Brigade. The 4th Ky Infantry did not become "Mounted Infantry" Until Sherman's 1864 campaign in Georgia. I had 4 uncles from Estill Co, Ky who served in this regiment, two of whom died in service and another wounded at Chickamauga, captured and taken to Libby Prison in Richmond, Va. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:344:4100:8C40:119F:F18F:4FB5:DEAD (talk) 01:08, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
