Only COS to serve full term of a President?

[edit]

Is is true that Steelman is the only White House Chief of Staff so far to serve the full term of a President? It appears that both H.R. Haldeman and James Baker served full terms under Nixon and Reagan respectively. --Gotophilk (talk) 03:39, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Political party

[edit]

The article had said that Steelman was a Republican, which would be pretty unusual for someone serving Presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. Several weeks ago, I added a "citation needed" tag to that, but nobody provided a citation. His obituaries in The Washington Post and The New York Times make no mention of his political party. I'm pretty sure if he had been a Republican serving Democratic presidents, the obit writers would have found that noteworthy and mentioned it.
