Did some editing

[edit]

I made a few changes and did some editing to try and strengthen the article. If anyone has a problem with what I did feel free to contact me, or just change it. I never intend to cause a problem for anyone, and hope I haven't here. Tlqk56 (talk) 00:48, 18 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Needs local editor

[edit]

Businessplace Bible and Crown. Does this name a building? I suppose not simply a shop sign (eg List of shop signs in Boston in the 18th century) but may provide branding for a collection of shops (eg Faneuil Hall in Boston), akin to a modern shopping mall that becomes well-known under its Proper Name.

Deathplace Canonbury House. Does this name a building? A hospital or residence in Canonbury? We should provide that link if appropriate.

P.S. We are inconsistent here regarding The ... or A Little Pretty Pocket-Book and our linked article implies the latter is correct.  Done

I added banner {{WP London}}, only a guess. Maybe {WP Books} or some England/history thing. --P64 (talk) 19:49, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I fixed that book title.
And linked 'Dr Primrose', not 'Mr. Primrose' if I understand correctly, see The Vicar of Wakefield#Dr and Mr. (and English people, never England in this context).
Let me refer "Giles and Griffith Jones" to that 18c English editor.
And "Mother Goose". Does scholarly uncertainty about Newbery's role refer to Mother Goose's Melody (1791) --which we oddly list at the beginning of section Bestselling Newbery books? If 1791 is correct, it was published 24 years after we date Newbery's death. If a reprint date, we should identify the original date, or the supposed/proposed original date with a question mark or a footnote to explain that the original date is unknown.

===John Newbery===

This article, which I have worked on, needs several things at this point:

  • inline citations
  • an organizational structure
  • more detail
