[edit]The assertion that "Brief life is here our portion," "To thee, O dear, dear country" were two of Neale's three best-known hymn texts is (at least from a contemporary American viewpoint) absurd on its face. It may have been true in Britain at the time of the 11th Britannica, but I don't think Wikipedia ought to be forcing its readers to time travel like that. I will see what I can do to update Mr. Neale (I made a start by mentioning his Christmas carols, which are surely better known than even "Jerusalem the Golden" in this day).--Haruo 20:44, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Towle's relationship to Neale (moved here from an edit summary where an anon left it)
[edit]Eleanor Towle was NOT John Mason Neale's daughter. His daughter Mary Lawson edited books on his sermons and hymns and did not do anything on his life -- 18:40, 7 November 2007 88.109.249.206
