Fair use rationale for Image:Johnlainglogo.gif

[edit]

Image:Johnlainglogo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Hi there

As I have identified in earlier posts on the John Laing disambiguation page, I am a PR professional working for an external agency. There are a few changes that I think it would be helpful to make to this page and I am keen to go about this in the correct manner, so please do advise me if there is a better way of going about this.

The changes I would like to make are as follows:

1. At the moment the first line reads "John Laing plc is a British developer and operator of privately financed, public sector infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, hospitals and schools through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) and Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arrangements." In order to keep this in line with company press releases and the way that it describes itself, and thereby giving it the most accurate description possible on this page and therefore most helpful to external users, would it please be possible to change this to "John Laing plc is a specialist investor and asset manager focused on major infrastructure projects at both primary, secondary and asset management stages in both the UK and internationally. Infrastructure markets include transport, health, education and renewable energy through Public-Private Partership (PPP) and Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arrangements."

Sorry but it is not acceptable to use material which is lifted from company websites. Dormskirk (talk) 21:50, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2. In the "history" section, it would be helpful to update the paragraph which begins "the business expanded rapidly..." to include the sentence "In 2003 its affordable housing division was sold in an MBO." This just adds further information which may be of use to Wikipedia users.

Done. Dormskirk (talk) 21:50, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

3. The penultimate paragraph in the "history" section finishes with "subject to approval by authorities." This can now be removed as that approval was granted.

Done. Dormskirk (talk) 21:50, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

4. In order to be most accurate, the "current operations" section should limit "Asia" to "Asia Pacific" as that is the only region of Asia in which John Laing plc now operates.

Done. Dormskirk (talk) 21:50, 10 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Any help or advice you could give me in making these changes would be really appreciated. Thank you in advance for any insight you can give me.

Regards

John Laing fact box

[edit]

Hi there, I work for John Laing in Communications and there are some factual errors to the fact box on the right hand side that I think it would be helpful to correct. Please advise me as the best way of going about this.

1. The logo is out of date. The new logo can be seen on laing.com and I am happy to provide it as an attachment 2. The list of executives is no longer correct. John Laing does not have a Chairman and its CEO is Andrew Truscott. https://www.laing.com/insights/john-laing-appoints-andrew-truscott-as-new-ceo/

In a further change, the company no longer distinguishes between Primary and Secondary Investments as stated in the Operations section, but only between Investment and Asset Management.

Any help or advice you could give me in making these changes would by highly appreciated - thanks in advance for any advice.

 Partly done

  1. I have removed the Operations section, as it contained only one reference which was to the company itself.
  2. The logo that you wish to display in the article first needs to be uploaded to Wikipedia before it can be added to the article. Please use the File Upload Wizard to accomplish this, taking care to select "Upload file for Non-Free Use".
  3. Once the logo is uploaded with the correct non-free-use license and approved, kindly return to this talk page and open a new edit request (using the {{Edit COI}} template) and request for the logo to be added to the article.

Thank you very much for your guidance. My account is not confirmed yet - is it best for me to upload it at Wikipedia:files to upload? Thanks. Don Hunter - John Laing (talk) 14:30, 12 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, are you able to delete the reference to Will Samuel as Chairman? As a private company John Laing no longer has a Chairman. Please can you also replace Olivier Brousse as CEO with Andrew Truscott, who is now CEO? https://www.laing.com/insights/john-laing-appoints-andrew-truscott-as-new-ceo/. Separately, are you able to upload the logo on my behalf? My account is not confirmed as 10 edits are needed and I have opened the account purely to correct factual errors on the John Laing page, which I would not edit directly?
