Nickname

[edit]

The fact that Boyle used Jack as a nickname some want to include in the article. However the Manual of Style says we should not include common nicknames in quote in the full listing of the name. Jack is a common nickname for John. Thus we would not include it in quotes. So it should only be included in the article probalby under a personal life section, with a note on what he was called by his friends. Most articles do not have such a note. If someone feels putting that in such a section is not giving undue weight, then they can do that, but per the manual of style of Wikipedia for biographies it would seem it should not be placed in the opening at all.John Pack Lambert (talk) 17:52, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
