Children's names
[edit]User:Joelster and I have been having a discussion on the inclusion of Mr. Ilhan's children's names in the article. In general terms, he is for it and I am against it. The discussion can be found here and here. I am not aware of any policy preventing the children's names being used, indeed their use should not be prevented if the information is encyclopaedic as Wikipedia is not censored, but I personally do not see the encyclopaedic value in the names.
Having said that, the names are in the public domain anyway and perhaps there is no real reason to exclude them. If consensus is to restore the names, then I am happy to do so. I am interested in others' thoughts. -- Mattinbgn\talk 23:21, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- I am not really bothered either way, but my main arguments for including the children's names are:
- They have been mentioned in just about every newspaper article regarding John Ilhan, and also reports on A Current Affair and Today Tonight, so it's not like their names need to be protected or anything. I also thought it would be notable to include the information that one of his daughters has a sevre peanut allergy and John set up a research fund in this area; see [1] and [2])
- Many, many biographical articles include names of their children, even though they aren't as famous or indeed notable as their parent.
- So that's basically it. Joelster 23:40, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
Philanthropy
[edit]I read John Ilhan's profile on facesofphilantropy.com, and noticed that his Wiki page didn't have a philanthropy section, so I added one. Sir. Somerset (talk) 21:25, 17 December 2010 (UTC)
