John Howard Lawson - An Intellectual Unsung-Hero

[edit]

A very interesting and informative biography! My familiarity with John Howard Lawson is limited to the reading of his 1950 book, The Hidden Heritage. While the article states that the book is "Marxist", I don't find that it is tendentious at all. The book is an honest and pragmatic look at the historical events and figures which have shaped our culture and western civilization. Of course, my oppinion may be biased, as I am also a great fan of Noam Chomsky whom I also feel is an honest pragmatist. Both writers are very similar in their styles. As for historical tomes, I highly reccommend The Hidden Heritage for anyone who desires to know how we got to where we are today and where we came from!

Inaccuracy

[edit]

How come his date of death is listed at the top as August 11th, and at the bottom as August 14th? Decide! =D

Citations needed for HUAC section

[edit]

Lawson is probably most famous for being one of the Hollywood 10 and standing up to HUAC, yet that section of the article is completely unsourced. Wiki publius (talk) 02:55, 11 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

HUAC title misinformation

[edit]

This article lists a section by the bias pejorative of HUAC instead of the committee's actual name. Not only is using the bias pejorative in no way neutral or objective, but it's literal misinformation when presented like this in an article. The actual official name should be used and if contributors want to include an explanation about the pejorative, that's different. Publicvikon (talk) 12:48, 1 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Bad influence on CP

“if FBI infiltrators … had devised Party policies from 1947 on they could not have done any worse than the group around John Howard Lawson,” https://variety.com/2002/more/reviews/radical-hollywood-the-untold-story-behind-america-s-favorite-movies-1200549279/ Xx236 (talk) 07:45, 3 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
