Department of Insurance is not needed by the state

Garamendi's Department of Insurance is not needed by the state, it was formed to cover up the state seizure of Executive Life Insurance Company and the other forced bankruptcies that happened in 1991. The state seizure coincided with the Los Angeles riots now reported on the Web as being after the Executive Life seizure.

This also shows why Garamendi should not be the state's lieutenant governor, why he should not be in politics at all. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.212.154.11 (talk) 15:49, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm no fan of Garamendi (although I did vote for him in the 2006 Democratic Lt. Gubernatorial primary election, because I disliked his two opponents even more; I voted for Republican Tom McClintock in the general election), but its absurd to suggest he isn't noteworthy. He may well be California's next Governor (although I suspect Jerry Brown will be reprising his previous role in that regard). Additionally, the California Department of Insurance was established in 1868, so I think its a bit of a stretch to blame its existence on Garamendi. He was the first elected state insurance commissioner in 1990, but that position was created by the voters (I actually voted against it) who passed Proposition 103 in November of 1988. Ralph Nader was the driving force behind Proposition 103, not Garamendi. KevinOKeeffe (talk) 17:04, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Congressional Photo

Can anyone find a Congressional photo of Garamendi? Thanks. --Politicsislife (talk) 22:41, 18 February 2011 (UTC)

California State Assembly vs. U.S. House of Representatives

There is an error in displaying the California State Assembly on the infobox to the right. Instead it shows the U.S. House of Representatives, which is wrong. Looking over the article you can clearly see which is the CSA tenure and which is the USHOR tenure. If someone with familiarity with this particular infobox could fix it that would be ideal.-Toyz1988 (talk) 21:28, 8 November 2012 (UTC)
