I attended grade school with John (known as John Blythe) during 1942-45 in Los Angeles at Cathedral Chapel School. Obviously, he was not in the service during the war. I saw him again in 1948-49 at Los Angeles High School and he was then John Barrymore Jr. I tried to follow his career from afar-and was saddened to read of his passing. I believe his Blythe name came from ACtress Ann Blythe- but I cannot recall the connectionWannacut2 (talk) 22:53, 16 September 2010 (UTC)Wannacut2

No major film career until 1958? He did have lead roles in a few films in the early 1950s. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.244.6.66 (talk • contribs)

If he has a star, shouldn't the contributions that earned it be listed?User:Mikereichold | User_talk:Mikereichold 22:05, 22 July 2006 (UTC) Horta —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.147.144.241 (talk) 18:32, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

I removed the 1980s dates for his marriage to Ildiko Jaid Mako due to a conflict with the birthdate of their daughter Drew (1975). I couldn't find any authoritative source that either confirmed the 1980s dates, or gave some other dates, so it was safer to leave the dates blank. If anyone has reference to the specific dates, feel free to add the dates and reference. --Myrin1 (talk) 13:48, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Regarding the following:
`John and his cousin, Dirk Drew Davenport, enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. As both were tall for their age, the military did not discover until several weeks later that the boys were below the minimum enlistment age.
- Note-WWII ended December 1945.hostilities early 1946.He would have been 13 years old.'
It is not clear whether the note is intended to suggest that the article's claim is untrue or simply to point out that Barrymore was extremely young at the time (it is in an incorrect format, in any case). Because of the ambiguity, I've qualified it in the main article and moved the note here. Ravenclaw (talk) 02:56, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
