GA Review

[edit]
This review is transcluded from Talk:John Creedon/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.

This article needs a lot of work before it is ready for GA status. Currently, all of the information about his career is in the lead section. The lead section should summarize the article, but there should be a "Career" section in which the relevant information is placed.

Some other concerns:

  1. References should be in the form of footnotes, not external links.
  2. There shouldn't be spaces before or between references.
  3. Some of the references are missing important information. At minimum, they should include a title, publisher, url, and accessdate. If a publication date and/or author is listed, this information should be included as well. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for the {{cite web}} template.
  4. The contrast described in the Personal life section is original research and doesn't seem notable for this article.
  5. I don't see the point of the vomit quotation.
  6. What helicopter? That sentence comes out of nowhere.
  7. Can you describe his shows? Without an explanation, the article lacks comprehensiveness.
  8. What is Fáilte Towers? It should also be mentioned directly that he was playing for charity.
  9. What is the "nation's favourite Irish word"?
  10. Parents: Two dogs?
  11. Why was he replaced on "The Creedon Show"?
  12. The article says he works for RTE, but it also implies that RTE was shut down.
  13. The article needs a copyedit from someone who hasn't worked on it. Grammatical problems and run-on sentences should be fixed.

Much of the article is missing context, so it seems like it's jumping all over the place. In some instances, it is (reality show, deceased granddaughter, reality show). I will place the nomination on hold to allow time for these concerns to be addressed and/or discussed. Any questions or comments can be left here, as I have added this page to my watchlist. Please note that this should not be seen as a full list of what needs to be done for GA status, but rather a list to get things moving in the right direction. I will most likely have more suggestions later. Best wishes, GaryColemanFan (talk) 01:53, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing has been done, so I am failing this nomination. For the future, please do not nominate an article if you do not intend to follow up on it. Reviewing an article is time consuming, so it's a little frustrating when the nominator gives the impression of not caring. At any rate, I hope that these suggestions can prove useful for future editors. GaryColemanFan (talk) 15:13, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah yes, that external link was added in haste with a view to returning to fix it. This occurred since it was nominated. I shall fix it immediately. --Candlewicke  :) Sign/Talk 11:09, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: The vomit quotation was intended to sum up his experience on a reality television show where he had to perform menial tasks such as that. --Candlewicke  :) Sign/Talk 11:18, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Comment: I don't know how else the part about them shutting down their medium wave service can be phrased and frankly cannot see how it suggests that RTÉ shut down in its entirety what with the repeated mentions to the fact that he works for them. --Candlewicke  :) Sign/Talk 11:22, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Where's he from?

[edit]

Where in Cork is Creedon from? There's almost nothing about his background. Also, is there a source saying he is Terence? I find it very hard to believe he is. 109.77.188.192 (talk) 21:29, 16 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
