I came upon this article when an assessment was requested at WP:IE. It's very obvious that this is still essentially a 1911 Britannica article, full of florid but highly POV sentences such as: "To Walpole, who looked upon every able colleague or subordinate, as an enemy to be removed, Carteret was exceptionally odious." It shouldn't take much for an editor with an interest in the subject to re-write it in Wikipedia style, preferably citing reliable sources as they go. Agreed, but the example you cite is fairly well attested to. One glaring hole in the article is the failure to mention Carteret's leadership, with Pulteney and Pitt, of the 'Patriot' Whig opposition to Walpole, dragging Walpole unwillingly into the War of Jenkins' Ear.Jatrius (talk) 11:03, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
