Ambassador to Russia
[edit]His appointment in 1731 is stated to have happened in 1731 in ODNB, but I can find no reference to him in diplomatic correspondence in TNA, SP91; nor is his appointment listed in Horn, British diplomatic representatives. I am therefore tagging this as "dubious". It may be he was appointed but did not go. Certainly he was at Westminster in 1732: "No. 7106". The London Gazette. 4 July 1732..
