Breadalbane and Glencoe.
[edit]I've edited this section because it simply perpetuates an ancient-and groundless-myth. Neither Breadalbane nor Argyll had any direct part in the Massacre of Glencoe. Breadalbane was proud of his own efforts to secure a peace in the Highlands, and only too well aware how serious a setback the Massacre was. He did not 'seize' the Glencoe lands for the simple reason that these lands belonged to the Argyll estate, to whom Macian paid rent. Breadalbane's shocked reaction to the Massacre can be readily explored in the corrsepondence held by the Scottish Record Office. Rcpaterson 23:30, 8 May 2006 (UTC)
