According to Hawaiian law, illegitimate children follow their mother's surname at the time and his mother was married to an man with the surname ʻAimoku at the time. It was legally changed to Dominis and he was officially adopted by the queen in 1910, prior to this he was an informal (hānai) adoptee.--KAVEBEAR (talk) 00:36, 19 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
