Banned?

[edit]

"In America, the song was banned outright…." Was the song actually banned, or simply unreleased? "Banned" suggests the effort of some censor working in an official capacity (in spite of the First Amendment). But if this is actually the case then please cite a reference. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 04:19, 12 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know anything about it. But I am just wondering, knowing what we now know about the goings on at TOTP in the 70s, how bad did the video have to be??? Did it just suck, or was it something out of Piers Pasolini??? What???64.178.125.153 (talk) 19:38, 13 January 2014 (UTC)User:JCHeverly 20:28, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

John... Lennon?

[edit]

I'm not an expert in David Bowie, but anyway... I just had the idea it may be John for John Lennon, cause I know Bowie loved him. It would be like a reference to John Lennon's song I'm only sleeping (Revolver, 1966). What do you think? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.37.54.119 (talk) 22:22, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There seems to be a slight inaccuracy

[edit]

The versions of the song are not tracked down properly as it seems- see http://www.5years.com/john.htm

is it true then that " A UK release of "John, I’m Only Dancing (Again)" in December 1979 had the original version as the B-side"

Fair use rationale for Image:Bowie JohnDancing1.jpg

[edit]

Image:Bowie JohnDancing1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Merge

[edit]

Please note : There is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Songs/coverversions with the purpose of trying to establish a standard for merge/separate different versions of the same song. Please make known your opinions on the matter. --Richhoncho (talk) 21:23, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

again

[edit]

John i'm only dancing(again) is a different song and deserves its own article. Because only have in common the chorus the rest is totally different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.230.69.102 (talk) 22:45, 12 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stay?

[edit]

John I'm Only Dancing (Again) is also the basic structure and format of the Station To Station track, Stay. This has been confirmed by Earl Slick in interviews, where he plays an example. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sam X Therapy (talkcontribs) 12:47, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Electric violin

[edit]

You have omitted my violin playing from the credits. I was only credited by David on the 2002 30th anniversary edition of Ziggy after contacting him about the omission. Check www.allmusic.com Lindsay Scott. 77.100.179.29 (talk) 09:08, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

My apologies Mr. Scott. I have plans to rewrite this article but haven't gotten around to it yet. Checking my online sources, both Chris O'Leary and Nicholas Pegg mention you in their books so I will be sure to add your name to the credits and give you a proper mention in the prose. Again, my apologies. – zmbro (talk) (cont) 14:13, 15 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
