According to an article by Peter Gradenwitz (Notes, 2nd Series, volume 7, no. 1, pp. 54-64, 1949), the Stamitz family had no connection with Bohemia at all, but were German; what is the state of good modern scholarship on this? (If you have college library card access, you may see the article online here. If you don't but are near enough such a library to search the stacks, you can find it in the aforementioned library in person of course.) No. Stamic family came from Slovenia (from Maribor), they had nothing to do with Germans (even the name "Stamić" is typical Slovenian, "Stamic" is bohemized and "Stamitz" germanized transcription). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.70.28.199 (talk) 13:26, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The contributions that Stamitz made to Sonata form needs to be expanded. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Scimitar1976 (talkcontribs) 19:29, 1 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Name Confusion

'Steinmetz - Stamitz' citation needed. Haven't time to fix this cite, but it's mentioned by Grove, in his 'Joseph Steinmetz' article, p. 62 60.240.191.224 (talk) 22:08, 26 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
