Recent death

[edit]

I am a bit puzzled by a message concerning the "recent death" template. Is this based on some central decision about the use of this template, if so where is it? What counts as a significant increase in the number of edits? This article received 9 edits on August 19, not insignificant. Most seriously, we are told that there ought to be a signficant increase in the number of edits, but without an indication of what time this message was issued it is impossible to judge whether there has been a significant increase. "Recency" applies for only seven days per Template:Recent death. WWGB (talk) 00:28, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Per the instructions at {{recent death}}, the "template should only be used when many editors (perhaps a hundred or more) are editing the article on the same day". Eleven edits from six editors doesn't come close to the threshold articulated there. Bongomatic 01:57, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am not an uncritical admirer of Reid, but given his iconic status I suggest that he deserves better than to be treated as Low importance in a number of projects. PatGallacher (talk) 23:51, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am an uncritical admirer of Reid (!), so I'm reluctant to make the change, but I'd suggest that the article probably meets the "mid" criteria for Organised Labour and for Scotland. "Low" for United Kingdom seems reasonable (though I'd be happy with "mid", too), but I can't find the UK's assessment page (The obvious page just seems to cover quality: stub, start, etc). You could maybe raise this at the talk pages of the relevant WikiProjects and see if there's consensus for a change or two? In the meantime, getting the article to C-class would be a useful goal, and might help show the respective WikiProjects just how important this article is. TFOWR 08:26, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Have we managed to bring this up to C class? PatGallacher (talk) 17:49, 21 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
