Proposed major edits

[edit]

As a NAIDOC Aboriginal of the Year and an Officer of the Order of Australia Little deserves a B-class article or better. I will be attempting to improve this article over the next week or so. Other editors are welcome to jump in where they can.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:31, 3 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I've done my bit. I believe its now B-class and I'm moving on.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 06:23, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Francis or Frances?

[edit]

I have some trouble deciding whether to use Francis or Frances within this article. There are three main instances that I see:

  1. Francis Little (née Peters) – Little's mother. Talking Heads transcript has Francis.
  2. Frances Claire Peters-Little – Little's daughter. Talking Heads has Francis Clare. Shedden, ASO have Frances Peters-Little. Women's Weekly has Frances Claire. AAP + AG has Frances Claire Peters-Little
  3. "Francis Claire" – the single Little wrote about his daughter. Women's Weekly has "Frances Claire". APRA has a result for "Francis Claire" (see here) but no result for "Frances Claire" (here).

I'd like an opinion as to which way to go.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 15:58, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Frances Peters-Little is an Aboriginal historian at ANU's Australian Centre for Indigenous History. Her publication credits and references on university pages are all spelt with an "e" as far as I can see. The ANU E-Press profile refers to "her father, Jimmy Little" so it's the same person. Perhaps the single name is deliberately spelt differently, hard to tell though without seeing the actual label. --Canley (talk) 23:59, 4 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This 1959 article gives both the song and the daughter's name as "Frances Claire" [1]. WWGB (talk) 01:16, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the above, I think I'll back to Frances for all instances unless a better source for the single being "Francis Claire" crops up.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 01:59, 5 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
