Birth date

[edit]

Pigsonthewing, how is somebody's own Facebook page unsatisfactory as a source for his birth date? (Is there some controversy surrounding this date?) -- Hoary (talk) 05:30, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

People lie. See WP:RS. Or indeed, the page to which my edit created a link. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 10:20, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
WP:BLPSELFPUB says:
There are living persons who publish material about themselves, such as through press releases or personal websites. Such material may be used as a source only if:
  1. it is not unduly self-serving;
  2. it does not involve claims about third parties;
  3. it does not involve claims about events not directly related to the subject;
  4. there is no reasonable doubt as to its authenticity; and
  5. the article is not based primarily on such sources.
Which among these five requirements isn't/aren't met by Mortram's statement on his FB page of his birth date? -- Hoary (talk) 13:29, 13 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
