Callum Keith Rennie

Why isn't Callum Keith Rennie included in the credits list? While he was credited as a "Special Guest Star", he was still "front-credits" credited along with the rest of the main cast. This is basically a "Heather Locklear on Melrose Place-type crediting situation, and he should be included in the main credits list. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 15:24, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

A "Special Guest Star" is still a guest star at the end of the day. He isn't a main cast member, thus he isn't included in the listing here. "Front-credit" actors apply to those who get "Main starring" billing (which may or may not be noted in the credits). Uh, no: he is front-credited – i.e. in the opening credits sequences with Janet McTeer and all the rest. That means he "main" cast. Whatever "special billing" they choose to add to that is irrelevant. This is not like Hal Ozsan, who was never front-credited. Again, this is basically the same situation as to how Heather Locklear was credited on Melrose Place – her "Special Guest Star" crediting never meant that she wasn't "main cast" (in fact, in her case, the "special billing" was to indicate that she was paid more!!). Regardless, Callum Keith Rennie is credited in the opening credits with all the rest, and thus is also main cast for season #2 and should be included in the 'Cast' list here. --IJBall (contribs • talk) 19:30, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Nope, that isn't correct. You're doing some WP:SYNTH there. Guest cast can be included in a series opening credits and are not exclusively for only main cast members. For example (sticking in the comic book realm) Agents of SHIELD has guest cast listing in the opening credits, and for a more direct correlation, the various Arrowverse series have used many "special billings" on occasion, and it is still for guest characters. More so on networks hows (rather than Netflix), opening credits generally follow the format of listing main characters, specially billed characters, and then guest characters. The end credits would then show the co-stars. In this instance, Jessica Jones is putting the main cast and specially billed characters in the opening, and moving the guest characters to the end credits. If Rennie was a main cast member, he would not have received the billing. And since we don't know (as of this post) any behind the scenes dealings as to why Rennie received such billing, we can't claim he is a main cast member, like you suggested with the Melrose Place example. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 21:35, 2 April 2018 (UTC)

Further to Favre's points, there is no third party reliable sources confirming Rennie as a series regular. Also, there are plenty of alternative options for special wording to give to regular cast members, such as "Special Appearance by". All we have to go on here is the fact that he is credited as "Special Guest Star", which tells us (without further inferences made) that he is a guest star, and is being given special billing for whatever contractual/behind-the-scenes reason. Several other actors receive the same "Special Guest Star" billing in this show including Rosario Dawson and Elden Henson, who each only appeared in a single episode of the series and are definitely not regulars. We shouldn't be basing these decisions on silly, blind guidelines like "front-credits = main credits", when there are variations between every series and we have more information to go on relevant to each. - adamstom97 (talk) 05:25, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Also to note, at least for these Netflix Defenders series, actors with "Special Guest Star" credit seem to be series regulars from other series (ie like Adam's Dawson and Henson example), but since Rennie has not been a regular on any other series, we can't look to that as a possibility for him and his credit. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:40, 4 April 2018 (UTC)

Cast/Characters List

Am I incorrect in thinking that there's something wrong with the characters list? Luke Cage appears second on the list, but only appears in the first season and only as a supporting character. Kilgrave also only appears in the first season. Maybe the list should be reformatted, to prioritize the characters that appear in all seasons, and then list recurring/one-season characters later? (I am somewhat new to editing so I don't know how to do this myself, or if this is even the correct move. PupGoomba (talk) 18:39, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Cast lists are created based on the order of the main/starring actors in the very first episode of the series, with any new actors credited as such appended to the end of the list. Is 3 Arts Entertainment because the other user thinks that the company wasn't involved but it actually was. Howard Klein was the executive producer of the show and the company's logo was uncredited even though they were involved. 86.15.93.32 (talk) 18:50, 17 November 2022 (UTC)

Please provide a reliable source saying it was. It never was credited at all, nor reported on in the trades as being a production company of this series. IMDb and other Wikipedia articles can not be used to claim such. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 18:57, 17 November 2022 (UTC)
