Assessment

[edit]

This article had been flagged for reassessment as part of WikiProject Musical Theatre. It has been reassessed and remains at stub class. It has only one section of prose and, although contains many lists, lacks many of the features outlined in the Musical Theatre Article Structure page. The addition of a synopsis section, a response section, or the addition of citations could all bring this article to a start or even B-class. Cheers! --omtay38 16:01, 30 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Has any one actually seen it, or in any other way qualified to write a synopsis or plot? What's the story of Jersey Boys? -- Roy Scherer (talk) 21:31, 9 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

--Yes, we're definitely missing a plot in the article! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.201.165.114 (talk) 16:14, 7 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Neither Wikipedia's "Jersey Boys" article nor "Four Seasons" article explains the legal or copyright relationship between the "Jersey Boys" show and the use of the names of the Four Seasons musicians the name of the group "Four Seasons." I'm curious about this because the sheet music "Choral Highlights from Jersey Boys" (arr. Mark Brymer, pub. Hal Leonard) does not contain any mention of Frankie Valli, Gaudio, or the "Four Seasons" group. Its copyright notice reads: <<(c) 1975 (Renewed 2003) JOBETE MUSIC CO, INC> and SEASONS MUSIC COMPANY>>. That's as close as it gets. Can someone explain why? Reassessment

[edit]

I raised the assessment to C-class, since more information has been added to the article; good job to those who have been working on it. I removed the Chicago project tag, because this musical has nothing to do with Chicago other than having had a production there. You don't need to add project tags from each city where the musical has had a production. I removed the repetitive cast lists containing non-notable names and moved all of the notable cast info to the productions section; I also removed unreferenced fancruft and expired information elsewhere throughout the article. The Critical response section needs expansion. For an example of what other information can be included in an musical theatre article, see Carousel (musical) and Hair (musical). -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:06, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dora and Helpmann Awards

[edit]

I removed the Dora and Helpmann awards, since lengthy tables detracted from an article's readability. If someone really wants to memorialize them, you could do so in a sub-article like this. -- Ssilvers (talk) 08:13, 1 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dutch cast

[edit]

I just removed the Dutch cast list from the table. Checked with the Musical Theatre artcle guidelines, the principals can be added to the Productions section with the other international productions, seeing as the Broadway and West End productions are the most notable. Boys in Concert lawsuit

[edit]

A user just deleted the section on the Boys in Concert lawsuit with the edit summary "Removal of information not about the show Jersey Boys". I restored this info because in my view it is directly related, but I'm open for discussion on the matter here. AD (talk) 23:44, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gyp DeCarlo

[edit]

The article mentions that "the writers were also contacted by family members of the late mob boss Gyp DeCarlo to ensure that he would be portrayed respectfully".

Does this refer to members of his actual family or is this intended to mean "Family" as in "assocation of mobsters"? It is not clear to me whether this is intended to refer to some kind of veiled threat by mob associates or simply a request by DeCarlo's children or other descendants. Partnerfrance (talk) 17:41, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There are two citations for that statement, one says "relative" and the second says "associates" so it seems rather ambiguous. AD (talk) 22:14, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Credits

[edit]

Would anyone object to a section CREDIT to honor those who are notable for contributing to the musical, such as writers or musicians? LassoLaneFolks (talk) 13:50, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Bad language .

[edit]

Having seen many productions both in the UK and America I was very disappointed in the amount of bad language used on this 2021 production it is not needed to portray the lives of the caricters. 2A00:23C7:1B91:8E00:C076:8104:407E:FCA2 (talk) 18:58, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
