"Jewish American"
[edit]The last two revisions to this article have focused on including "Jewish American" in the header. I am wary of editing something that is factual, but the pages of other politicians (Anne Northup, Mike Sodrel, Mitch McConnell, Jim Bunning, Dick Lugar, Evan Bayh, and Kelly Downard) do not mention their religion which makes me question why Abramson's religion is being edited to the point of mentioning it more than once (Abramson's religion is already mentioned in the 'See Also' section that includes him under the 'List of Jewish American political figures'). Unless other politicians religions are mentioned in their header, I see no need to include it for Abramson. Including this information is redundant and gives the appearance that this religion plays a part in politics while the religion of other politicians do not. Unless the religions of other area politicians are included in the header, I do not think that this information should be mentioned twice since it has the appearance of a prejudice and/or a particular Point Of View. Although I think this information is not needed to be mentioned in the header and mentioned more than once, I have chosen not to edit it until other users have voiced their opinions. Any other thoughts?... Chris24 05:12, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- Well yeah, it's not really terribly relevent to his political career anyway, as far as I know. I guess it should be mentioned, but having it in the intro like it is seems slightly suspect. Like the edit summary said, maybe put it somewhere else in the article... though it is indirectly mentioned twice in the category/see also. Not really my area of expertise, sorry... but I do need to add this article to my watchlist. --W.marsh 05:38, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
- The fact he's Jewish is not notable in and of itself. But I believe he was the first Jewish mayor of Louisville (I'm sure), if not the first Jewish mayor in Kentucky (I'm not as sure). This could be discussed as a short blurb toward the end of the article, as far as I'm concerned. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 06:00, 9 September 2006 (UTC)
Abramson's first competitor?
[edit]Okay, WHO? Considers Kelly Downard to be Abramson's first competitor? Where does this come from and how could it possibly considered accurate? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.128.192.228 (talk • contribs)
- The article was/is saying he was Abramson's first serious competitor. Stevie is the man! Talk • Work 20:07, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

Article is overly glossy
[edit]I have to say this article for a five-term mayor is disappointing in how it seems to be just a step above a resume. There is very little depth, covering his accomplishments very lightly (e.g. airport expansion, a huge multiple-year effort mentioned in all of a single clause) while ignoring controversies (Cordish dealings, relocations and destruction of neighborhoods for airport expansion, etc.). After all this time, the article is barely a C grade due to lack of coverage. And what did he get done while working as Lt. Governor or for the Obama administration? This article does not tell me anything beyond him getting and holding the positions. Let's do better. Stefen Towers among the rest! Gab • Gruntwerk 03:15, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
