Notability

[edit]

Proske is not notable without significant coverage in independent reliable sources. So far, we have very little to go on. She went to college. She's had one role. - SummerPhD (talk) 20:29, 16 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proske has the lead female role in a movie released by a major studio (Fox) that will be released in 2,976 U.S. theaters [1], and supported by a major marketing campaign. Didn't Frieda Pinto have a Wikipedia page after her first film was released in far fewer theaters, and before all the accolades came in? Granted, Vampires Suck has received mostly poor reviews and will never win an Oscar. But how can you definitively declare this person's notability in 7 days? 68.77.16.244 (talk) 15:59, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Frieda Pinto is a moot point. Per WP:ENT, Proske is presumed to be notable if she: "1.Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions. 2.Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following. 3.Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment." I see no indication that any of these have been met. This leaves her strictly in the realm of the general notability guideline. She is thus not notable unless we can find "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject". At present, such coverage is not cited in the article. - SummerPhD (talk) 16:51, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I think we have 'significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject'. The Boston Globe is a reliable rag, and FOX News is not exactly insignificant?!?, What are we looking for? - a full front page article on the BBC website! -Kiwipat (talk) 18:37, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
We do not have significant coverage such that we can write a "reasonably detailed" article. The Boston Globe and Fox News are reliable sources, but their coverage of her is not significant. The guideline that applies, WP:ENT, specifically states "significant roles in multiple notable films". Heck, she hasn't had insignificant roles in multiple minor films. She has one role in one film. We also know she went to college and was born - gulp! - circa 1987. If that is the result of significant coverage, the word "significant" must not mean what most people think it means. - SummerPhD (talk) 19:46, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Updates on her notability

[edit]

I don't know if now she's notable and I'm not very used to en.wiki guidelines, so I'll let you judge.
As you can see from IMDB, after appearing in Vampires Suck, she is in the pilot of the CBS new series Home Game, but I don't think it has already aired. She shot a short film. She will be in the movie Sexting in Suburbia and in the new series House of Lies, which premieres in January 2012. It's not on IMDB, but she will appear in one episode of CSI: NY on November 18 and probably in the following. I've been working on her in my sandbox at it:wiki and I've gathered about 20 references. If you think she's notable, I can create the page translating from my sandbox. --Chiyako92 (talk) 10:01, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IMO, the sources look pretty good, by WP:ENT is still a problem. At the moment she still has one significant role in a notable production. Once the independent film or unaired pilot gets somewhere, we'd be good. - SummerPhD (talk) 11:54, 25 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

According to twitter, Sexting in Suburbia is set to premiere Jan 14 on Lifetime. --Chiyako92 (talk) 16:00, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Age Confusion

[edit]

I think there's been a little misconception here... According to what sources was she born in 1986? Who on earth gave IMDb this info?

I don't actually know how they could make such a mistake, when on August 8 Proske always thanks her Twitter followers for wishing her a happy birthday. Probably they took the information from this (also note the wrong photo). --Chiya92 09:09, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
