Cigarettes?
[edit]No mention that his name was a brand of cigarette until the 1950s or 60s. It was pronounced /də'rɛsk/. They'd never use anything spelt so unphonetically nowadays. Did he benefit from it, or did they just exploit him after he was dead? --Hugh7 (talk) 07:45, 27 April 2012 (UTC)
- From an ad I read (but cannot remember where now), it seems that he was paid for the use of his name. I have been debating whether to add this, but it doesn't seem to be a notable bit of information.–CaroleHenson (talk) 23:57, 9 November 2021 (UTC)
- I added a section about the cigarettes. The tobacco blend was created for Reszke. He liked to smoke, but had a hard time finding cigars or cigarettes that did not harm his voice.–CaroleHenson (talk) 17:39, 14 November 2021 (UTC)
Baritone?
[edit]He was clearly a baritone (this article mentions he had a baritone voice) who sung also tenor parts. You can hear he sung high(tenor)C using falsetto. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZXT8x7874bI Comicspiotrus (talk) 06:04, 4 December 2012 (UTC)
Maurice Renaud
[edit]Could someone please remove the grotesque claim that the very minor provincial German singer Willy Niering was "possibly identical to Maurice Renaud"??? Unless just a sick joke, this is speculation and conspiration-theory of the worst kind and should have no place in Wikipedia. Maurice Renaud'S life is well-documented (start here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Maurice_Renaud ) and leaves no space for such silly theories. Thank you! BTW the same bullshit is also peddled on the German (and maybe other) pages on Jean de Reszke that are probably all translations of the English one. 91.64.32.147 (talk) 22:46, 12 March 2021 (UTC)
