  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
The writing is basically decent but not spectacular, and there are a few issues I outline below.
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
    C. No original research:
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
Coverage is a bit thin, but adequate. It would be nice to have quotes from his peers, superiors, or Napoleon concerning his performance, if these are available.
I didn't find any, but if I do eventually, I'll add them. I added a bit more on his activities in Italy. The artillery guys are under covered; they tend not to do exciting charges and what not (like Murat), and some are colorful (like Bonaparte), but for the most part, not much.
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
His portrait caption could credit the painter...
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail: Issues addressed.

Prose issues

[edit]
  • consistency of spelling in place names (Vilnius vs. Vilna, Koenigsberg vs. Königsberg)
  • more things should be linked: East Prussia, Moscow, and Grand Army, to name just those in the lead
  • The names of several of his commanding officers are piped to last name; this is not useful for people unfamiliar with Napoleonic-era history. A brief indicator of who these people are and their relative importance would be appreciated.

These things should be pretty easy to take care of; I'll place the nomination on hold. Magic♪piano 02:16, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

These should be addressed now. auntieruth (talk) 20:16, 16 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
