Article issues

[edit]

Issues of this article tagged have not been resolved. DO NOT remove the tags again. Tags are not a "badge of shame", they are there to point out to all editors what needs to be fixed. Thank you. ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 07:35, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I second that. The subject of this article is notable, but the blatantly promotional tone, poor writing and poor formatting actually gives the opposite impression. Note also that the entire first paragraph of the biography section is pasted verbatim from http://www.vinilemania.net/vJAZZHAMILTON.htm and has been removed. See below. One or more portions of this article duplicated other source(s). The material was copied from: http://www.vinilemania.net/vJAZZHAMILTON.htm Infringing material has been rewritten or removed and must not be restored, unless it is duly released under a compatible license. (For more information, please see "using copyrighted works from others" if you are not the copyright holder of this material, or "donating copyrighted materials" if you are.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or published material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use copyrighted publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Please see our guideline on non-free text for how to properly implement limited quotations of copyrighted text. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. While we appreciate contributions, we must require all contributors to understand and comply with these policies. Note also that even if the copyright owner gives permission, the original text is overly promotional and unecyclopedic and may require extensive copy-editing. Future editing

[edit]

Future editors, especially those who are affiliated in any way with Jazz Hamilton, must adhere to the following guidelines when editing this article:

  1. Before even starting to edit it again, please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for guidance.
  2. Remember that you are writing for an international readership not simply your potential customers.
  3. This is an encyclopedia article, not the web page for this artist or his blog. All additions must be neutrally worded and use encyclopedic tone and style. Any additions which can be perceived by a neutral reader as hype or PR will be removed. See Wikipedia:Neutral point of view and Wikipedia:Avoid peacock terms for guidance.
  4. Do not paste in text from your or anyone else's official websites, blogs etc. Apart from the almost invariably unsuitable promotional style, it is a copyright violation unless the sites explicitly display a public domain license. Further guidance can be found on Wikipedia:Copyright violations and its associated pages.
  5. Remember, that once you have written an article on Wikipedia, you and/or your organization no longer own it. It will always have to conform to Wikipedia's policies on content, style and formatting – not to your desired image or marketing goals. Further guidance can be found on Wikipedia:Ownership of articles. Voceditenore (talk) 12:08, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File:Jazz Hamilton Banner.jpg Nominated for speedy Deletion

[edit]

An image used in this article, File:Jazz Hamilton Banner.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 16 November 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review
