75 dollars
[edit]how could they poss. refilm anything for 75 dollars. it cited but that cant be right. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.247.188.180 (talk • contribs) 19:49, 29 September 2006
- I know. But, then again, looking at the stills at [1] it becomes more credible. The JPStalk to me 19:04, 29 September 2006 (UTC)
Copyright violations
[edit]Please DO NOT copy and paste material from other websites.
Many new editors have recently been lifting huge sections from other websites, particularly the IMDB. These are usually the 'Trivia' and 'Alternative versions' sections.
I have now inserted system messages to hopefully deter this happening in the future. I appreciate that such messages should be used sparingly, but I think we should keep them until the current spate of copyvios stops. The JPS 20:53, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
- The actual 'trivia' section was written with such poor grammar and syntax that it does indeed look like it originally came from those dumbasses down at imdb. I've done my best to put commas in whee the should be and delete superfluous stuff.
Another big anon edit
[edit]What about this anon edit? [2] I've done a quick Google search and I can't find a source, but I'm always suspicious of big additions by anons. The JPStalk to me 13:18, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- I think someone with a current DVD could clear that up, quite easily. Either way, it still needs to be rewritten so that it reads more like an encyclopedia (if it's true). Bignole
- I have the 1999 R1 DVD, but don't have access to the TV version. I can't remember hearing any opening narration on a BBC broadcast. The JPStalk to me 13:28, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
- The TV version ends with Jake dead, and the shark just impaled and drifting to the bottom of the ocean.Bignole
- Yes I believe it does. I saw it on Chiller and AMC recently. The Stone Cutter (talk to me) 13:29 21 August 2006 (UTC)
POV?
[edit]Does anybody think that the sentnace 'It is considered one of the worst movies ever made, with a rank in the worst 50 on the Internet Movie Database's Bottom 100' is a bit POV, even if it is sourced? --IvanKnight69 11:19, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm going to revamp the lead, which will mean that line won't have as much prominence. Soem films are known for their badness (Plan 9, etc), and JtR is probably one of them. As long as it can be sourced, it's OK. The JPStalk to me 11:23, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
Cultural impact
[edit]I removed the Doctor Who bit. "Now it's personal" is a fairly common movie cliche, and the fact that some character in a British tv show said it means nothing to the article and to most readers. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Justanotherguy (talk • contribs) 00:48, 15 March 2007 (UTC).
- That's fine, sometimes people add original research to articles and it never gets caught. BIGNOLE (Contact me) 01:03, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Shark Roaring
[edit]It should be noted that the concept of the shark having a voice, ad roaring like a lion, is not unique to this film: both of the other two sequels featured the same. The shark can be seen/heard roaring in Jaws II as it rubs up against a boat after narrowly missing its attack on the unconscious Michael (interestingly enough, the hydraulics which open its mouth can also clearly be seen in this scene). It can very obviously be seen/heard roaring in Jaws 3-D in the scene in which the two dolphins (Cindy & Sandy) show up and put themselves between the shark and the fleeing humans, in order to buy time for the latter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.161.188.11 (talk) 01:28, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
Explosion and flashback
[edit]In the TV version I saw the movie ended with Brody actively blowing up the shark - I can't be sure but I think he and Jake got the shark to swallow some sort of device, and Brody later activates the device, blowing the shark to bits. Before pressing the button, however, there is a flashback to his father saying "Smile, you son of a bitch". Has anyone else seen this? I saw this well over 10 years ago so my memory of it may be flawed, which is why I haven't actually made an edit. Steve m203 09:20, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Yeah there is a flashback to when Brody killed the shark that had killed Quint.74.212.32.130 (talk) 01:34, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
Well, In the TV version, instead of the shark blowing up, the shark actully is stuck on the poll Ellen [Brody] used to blow him up in the DVD version, and struggles and dies. And Jake does not survive. The Stone Cutter (Talk to Me) 11:25, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

The Worst Movie Ever
[edit]This movie has a link to the Worst Movies Ever Made article even though it is clearly not on the list. I would suggest either putting the movie in the Worst Movie's ever made list or removing the link from this page. You can find the link on the first paragraph of this article. Thank you.-James Pandora Adams —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.126.18.254 (talk) 22:10, 9 May 2011 (UTC)
- There are several sources in the main body of this article to substantiate that claim. The link puts it into context. The JPStalk to me 09:19, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Chief Brody did not die from a shark attack
[edit]I have made an edit to chief Brody’s death, they claim in this film he died from a heart attack, not a shark attack as was previously stated. Philmac44 (talk) 16:53, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
