Vulture, not Eagle

Jatayu was known to be a Vulture (in Hindi, "giddha"), not an eagle. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.222.177.9 (talk) 02:51, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Valmiki himselfs calls Jatayu gṛdhrarāja—King of Vultures. Most dictionaries gives “vulture” as the primary translation. Giddha in Hindi comes from Sanskrit “gṛdhra”. But the word can also mean any bird of prey like eagles.ChandlerMinh (talk) 16:50, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
