My father served on board the U.S. Navy sub chaser SC 741, which hit a reef & sunk on June 17, 1943.
I discovered a small diary of my fathers' with a note regarding an attack from a submarine & indicating that the submarine was sunk. The date was May 13, 1943, however there is no indication as to what sub that it was.
located info that the SC 740 attacked a sub and we're successful in sinking it. Submarine not identified & no official record of the sinking since the SC 740 went down within 30 days of this.
Both the SC 740 and the RO 102 were in the same vicinity at the same time. I have the note written by my father who was a crew member of the 740 and he dated the note 15 May, 1943.
I believe that the submarine he was referencing was the RO 102. Maypo1961 (talk) 16:50, 29 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
