Please do not use the construction “There are currently two major encyclopedias in the Japanese language”: it is much more direct to say “Currently, the two major encyclopedias in the Japanese language are . . .” But even before this, you should say something much broader about the history of the encyclopedia in Japan. What is the source of the term “hyakka jiten”? (I suspect it is modern, which means you need a broader discussion of the historical terminology.) It would be nice to have proper encyclopedic information on Wikipedia, Silabel, etc: when did they begin, what are they (in the case of Silabel). The links to lists of online encyclopedias should have a separate sub-section of “links.” Also, aren’t some of the links mentioned worth bringing into the main article? I notice that the main Wikipedia article on “Encyclopedia” has nothing about Japan. Why don’t you add something? Jb05-Hds200:08, 7 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
