Title
[edit]After the undiscussed move from January 2025 North American storm complex to January 3–6, 2025 United States blizzardby @MarioProtIV, I think there should possibly be an official move discussion as the new title could have issues. First thing I noticed is that the current title implies that the event has ended or will end on the 6th of January, this is not currently true and Wikipedia does not title articles based on predictions.
I personally don't feel strongly either way about the United States vs. North America argument made by the mover, but I can also see it being potentially controversial/debatable. Mason7512 (talk) 23:25, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- It’s not really controversial, see January 2016 United States blizzard – that had some Canada impacts very early on when it moved ashore, but the majority of impacts were contained to only the U.S. Giving this current system the North American title would be WP:UNDUE given that for this system, all of the impacts have for the most part remained within the entirety of the U.S. The date range I can easily just move the page in a few hours given the remaining impacts, and were also added because NWS itself is expecting another winter storm within the South, which, given the rarity of it, will likely need an article. I’m aware we don’t base off predictions, but when you have governmental offices predicting two major storms in a short succession, it’s better to get ahead of the curve, and given the onset of the next storm is literally 48 to 60 or so hours out. When warnings go up that’ll prove my point. MarioProtIV (talk/contribs) 23:35, 6 January 2025 (UTC)
- While I'm not 100% following your reasoning on the dates, the time period between now and then is so short that it is probably best to keep this title, wait, and see. I agree that there is no point in starting a discussion right before major developments (which I was unaware of). Thank you for explaining, Mason7512 (talk) 01:36, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
