Jane Anderson - error
[edit]The article on Jane Anderson states that she was novelists Joseph Conrad's "lover." There is no evidence that this was so. A Conrad biography by Jeffery Meyer is suggestive, but Conrad scholars generally reject the notion that there was a physical relationship. There is little doubt that Conrad was infatuated with her, his wife Jessie resented her presence, and the attentions paid her by Conrad's friend Joseph Retinger caused a rift between Conrad and Retinger; but there is no reason to believe that Conrad's relationship with Anderson was any more than attraction.
There of course are no sources to cite for the above negative statement. The onus is on the article's author to reference positive proof. G. W. Stephen Brodsky PhD (Conrad Studies)96.54.36.72 (talk) 15:19, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
- I heard it was Conrad's elder son Borys who was in love with her. (Check his younger son John's memoirs.) Valetude (talk) 23:53, 22 July 2017 (UTC)
- PS But consider why Conrad's widow's memoir of her husband ends in 1917 (when Borys brought Jane home to meet the family), leaving out the last seven years of Conrad's life. Valetude (talk) 23:06, 27 September 2020 (UTC)

1910 composer?
[edit]Was Deems Taylor a composer only during the year 1910? That's the way it's written here. 121.44.175.17 (talk) 09:36, 17 May 2016 (UTC)
